1Seal Packing Black 08826-00080 = TB1207B (now sold as Toyota 00295-00103 "Seal Packing 103"). Permatex Right Stuff: about $14–18 [search snapshot, U]. Loctite SI 5900: about $15–25 [U price]1207B is the same product. Ultra Black and Right Stuff are oxime silicones, which is a different chemistryBuy the genuine 00295-00103 at about $22. It costs about the same as TB1207B and only about $10 more than Ultra Black. It's also the only option that's an exact match and is known to work with Toyota's assembly/oil-fill timing.
2Seal Packing 1282B 08826-00100: water pump, bypass pipe (user also plans to use it on brass freeze plugs)Forum consensus: a fast-curing silicone FIPG made for Toyota LLC/SLLC coolant [U, no ThreeBond TDS found] (ih8mud, via search summary). ThreeBond's related coolant-rated FIPGs include 1216 and 1217F (1216)No dealer MSRP found. eBay (US): $84.50 eBayTB1207B is itself coolant-rated (see #1). Permatex Ultra Grey or Right Stuff are coolant-resistant per Permatex [U for long-life coolant] (Right Stuff 90-min TDS)CompromiseUse the 00295-00103 / 1207B tube from #1 for the water pump and bypass pipe [assumed: no separate 1282B purchase needed]. Toyota (via ThreeBond) rates 1207B for coolant. If you specifically want 1282B, the $85 eBay price is poor value. Freeze plugs: see #7.
3Adhesive 1324 08833-00070: flywheel bolts, spark plug tube endsAnaerobic methacrylate, red. ThreeBond UK's 2001 bulletin classes it as "Medium strength bearing fit" (retaining compound). Viscosity 600 mPa·s. M10 breakloose 45 Nm at 30 Nm tightening. Range −60 to 150 °C. Small amounts of surface oil OK TB1324 TDSNot foundLoctite 271 (Toyota/Lexus's listed equivalent Lexus TT). Use Loctite 271 (Toyota's own cross-reference) or 263 on the flywheel bolts. Note: 1324 is retaining-grade, so it's at least as strong as needed for the press-fit tube ends; 271 is fine there too. [U] TB's datasheet says "medium strength" while your brief calls it "high strength". In any case, red 271/262/263 is at least as strong.
4Adhesive 1344 08833-00080: oil pressure sender threadsAnaerobic threadlocker. Drei Bond (ThreeBond's German affiliate) DB1344 sheet: low-to-medium strength, M10 breakaway 12–18 Nm, −55 to 150 °C DB1344 TDS [U: may not be the identical Japanese formula]Not foundLoctite 242 (Toyota's listed equivalent). Loctite 243 6 mL: about $11. Oil-tolerant. M10 breakaway 26 N·m 243 TDS, WalmartTrue match (242), or better (243 on oily threads)The cheap equivalent is fine. Use blue 243. Use a thin coat only, and keep it off the sender tip and orifice. Note: sender ground runs through the threads, so avoid heavy PTFE paste here [assumed common practice].
5Seal Packing 1281 08826-00090 (= 00295-01281): R150 caseToyota's orange transmission FIPG (ih8mud forum, via search). TB1281/1281B is a silicone FIPG for gear oil [U, ThreeBond page now 404]Not foundPermatex Ultra Grey or Loctite SI 5900, both oxime silicones rated for gear oil [U]CompromiseOnly needed if the case is opened. Ultra Grey is the usual DIY choice. Otherwise the 1207B/103 tube from #1 is also rated for gear oil per ThreeBond, as a general silicone [U]. The cheap option is fine.
6aToyota MP grease: seal lipsLithium-soap multipurpose grease–Any NLGI-2 lithium or lithium-complex grease, about $5–8 per tube [U price]True matchCheap equivalent is fine
6bClutch spline grease, release hub greaseMoly (MoS2) high-temperature grease. Use a thin smear and wipe off the excess. Excess grease flung onto the disc causes slip and judder Borg & Beck
6cLithium-soap glycol "rubber grease" 08887-01206: clutch master and slave cylinder rubberRed glycol-based grease, compatible with brake fluid. Contains no petroleum, so it won't swell EPDM ericthecarguy, BITOGeBay listings, 100 g eBay [price not captured]Silicone brake/rubber grease (e.g. Sil-Glyde) or a brake assembly lube [U, not Toyota-sanctioned]. Never use petroleum greaseCompromiseCheap is fine, but it must be a non-petroleum grease (silicone or glycol). Clean brake fluid also works for assembly. The genuine tube is also cheap enough to just buy.
7aFreeze/core plugs (not in FSM)––Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket #3 (non-hardening, −65 to 400 °F), 4 oz about $12 90racing. Rebuilders commonly use Aviation or silicone RTV NCRS. Permatex #2: mixed reports MTFCA. Loctite 620/609 retaining compound: no rebuilder data found [U]n/aAviation #3 (about $12) or the 1207B/103 FIPG (your plan to use 1282B also works). Install with a proper driver into a clean, dry bore. Prep matters more than the sealant brand.
7bOil gallery pipe plugs (not in FSM)––Loctite 567 PST 50 mL about $24 TestEquity. Loctite 565, or Permatex High Temp Thread Sealant [U price]. Hardening Permatex 1A is preferred by some for gallery plugs NCRSn/aUse an anaerobic PST paste (567/565). No tape: shreds can block galleries [U, common practice]

Notes and risks

  1. Cam bearing caps / half-moon plugs: genuine product recommended. This is where squeeze-out risk is highest. Excess RTV squeezed inward can cure into strings that are carried to the oil pickup screen or into cam journal and lifter feed passages. This applies to any brand. Use a thin bead of 2–3 mm, kept away from oil holes. [U, general rebuild practice; no 5VZ-specific failure source found]
  2. Timing / 5-minute rule. Toyota requires you to assemble within about 5 minutes of applying the bead, before a skin forms. 1207B is a fast-cure de-acetone type ThreeBond. Generic oxime RTVs skin in about 15 minutes. Right Stuff: dry-to-touch in 5–15 minutes, tack-free in 2 hours, full cure in 24 hours Right Stuff TDS. Loctite SI 5900: tack-free in 15 minutes Henkel. Whichever you use, assemble within 5 minutes and torque to spec. Wait before adding oil: Toyota typically says 2 hours. For Ultra Black, Permatex says to cure overnight for best results Ultra Black TDS. Right Stuff claims "immediate return to service", but its own sheet contradicts that with a 24-hour full cure.
  3. Anaerobic gasket makers (Loctite 518, Permatex anaerobic) are not a substitute for this FIPG. They fill gaps of only about 0.25 mm and are meant for rigid machined flanges Boeing/Loctite 518. The oil pan, valve covers and the 3–4 mm bead joints rely on a bead with real gap fill.
  4. Cost logic. One genuine 00295-00103 tube at about $22 replaces items #1, #2 and #7a. Two Ultra Black tubes cost about $20. The saving is about $2–10, so it isn't worth the risk on cam caps. Buy two tubes if you're doing both cam housings, the oil pan and the rear retainer. [assumed: one tube may not cover a full engine; size not listed]
  5. Threadlockers: buy generic. Loctite 242/243 and 271/262/263 are Toyota's own listed equivalents, or stronger. They cost about $11 per 6 mL versus no findable genuine price.
  6. Not verified: the 1282B and 1281 chemistry (no official TDS found); any dealer MSRP for 08826-00080/00100/08833; Ultra Grey/Black compatibility with long-life coolant; 5900 and Right Stuff tube prices.
